Server logs

A record of what happens in your server.

Review message changes, linker punishments, and members arriving or leaving. Each category has its own forum post, so your staff can find the right record quickly.

GET STARTED

Choose where logs belong.

01

Use a private staff forum.

As a server administrator, choose a forum that everyone cannot view. Logs may contain text from private channels, so limit access to the staff who should read it.

02

Run /log setup.

Select the forum and enter a deletion period, for example 12h, 7d, or 3mo. You can choose between one minute and 90 days. linker tells you if it needs additional permissions.

03

Enable what you need.

Setup creates only a Log Management post. You can also configure logs under Dashboard → Manage Servers → Server logs. Its menu lets administrators switch each category on or off. A category post is created only when you enable it. Turning it off keeps the old records, and enabling it again reuses that post.

WHAT GETS RECORDED

Four places to review activity.

Message Updates

Edits show the text before and after a change. Deletions show the cached message text, author, and channel. Attachment links are included when available; deleted Discord attachments may stop working.

Punishments

linker records its own Global Chat bans, mutes, and blocked-message actions originating in this server for members of this server. This is not a complete record of actions taken by Discord, other bots, or staff.

Server Joins

See which account joined and when linker received the event.

Server Leaves

See which account left. A departure alone does not tell linker whether someone left voluntarily, was kicked, or was banned.

RETENTION & LIMITS

Useful records without keeping everything forever.

A deletion period is required to protect privacy. Logs can preserve deleted messages and personal information that staff no longer need. Automatic expiry limits how long those records remain accessible. Choose a period that gives your team enough time to review incidents without keeping every message indefinitely.

linker checks for expired entries every five minutes while online. High volumes, Discord limits, or missing permissions can delay deletion. The post header and staff replies are kept. After downtime, cleanup resumes using the saved settings.

Only events received while linker is online can be logged. Earlier message text may be unavailable after a restart, and long text is shortened. linker does not read the audit log or automatically collect punishments from other apps.

01
Local settings onlyThe bot saves forum and post IDs and your deletion period locally. The dashboard receives only setup information, module states, and available forums, never the log contents.
02
Menus stay up to dateAfter bot updates, linker refreshes the management menus in configured servers automatically. New categories appear switched off. Automatically archived posts reopen when needed, including after a restart.
03
Separate from Global Chat incident recordsExisting network reports and support logs have their own handling and retention.
